Our son loves to help dad unload the truck. This was the lint collected from 1 day.

Whenever he is away from school, my son is eager to help out and learn as much as he can about our business. Here he is seen disconnecting the crinkle hose from the wall.

We start with assessing the current problem:
Dryer overheats
Loads take too long to dry
Clothes never fully dry
Lint is exiting inside the house

There are a number of things that can cause these problems but more often than not it is an excess amount of lint collected and hardened in the line.
Local fire departments suggest that you clean your dryer vent every 12 - 18 months depending on how much you use your dryer.

Here is the inside of a disconnected line that was being replaced.
You can see that this line still has some room for air to flow through. With this clog restricting air flow you waste time, energy and money. If you have to dry loads more than once, that's a sure sign that you need your vent cleaned. In some cases the line will be completely clogged, causing your dryer to over heat and possibly burn out - A costly mistake if the dryer is brand new.  In the worst case scenario it will cause the lint to back up into the igniter of the dryer and cause your line to catch fire.  Routine maintenance allows you to have optimum performance and safe operation.

We run through the whole line to break up the lint, then remove it all with HEPA backpack vacuums.
You are left with a clean line and maximum air flow to ensure your dryer performs at its best.

Here is an example of a line that needed to be replaced. Fire may occur If the line is too small or if at any point in the exhaust system inferior product such as crinkle hose was used. Exhaust lines are often too small for regulatory standards and should be replaced. The correct line will decrease the likelihood of clogging and failure. It will also help the dryer perform as tested and intended.
