Whenever he is away from school, my son is eager to help out and learn as much as he can about our business. Here he is seen disconnecting the crinkle hose from the wall.
We start with assessing the current problem:
Dryer overheats
Loads take too long to dry
Clothes never fully dry
Lint is exiting inside the house
There are a number of things that can cause these problems but more often than not it is an excess amount of lint collected and hardened in the line.
Local fire departments suggest that you clean your dryer vent every 12 - 18 months depending on how much you use your dryer.

We run through the whole line to break up the lint, then remove it all with HEPA backpack vacuums.
You are left with a clean line and maximum air flow to ensure your dryer performs at its best.

Here is an example of a line that needed to be replaced. Fire may occur If the line is too small or if at any point in the exhaust system inferior product such as crinkle hose was used. Exhaust lines are often too small for regulatory standards and should be replaced. The correct line will decrease the likelihood of clogging and failure. It will also help the dryer perform as tested and intended.
